I find the texture of elephant skin fascinating. Here at the tail end the skin is particularly wrinkled and convoluted. Huge elephant ticks are able to get a foothold in these deep crevices and this is one of the reasons why elephants dust bathe and wallow so often – to reduce the presence of these parasites.
